Compress PDF for Email

Email services cap attachments: Gmail's limit is 25 MB per message for personal accounts, and other services set their own. This page aims for 10 MB, which stays under every provider limit in our email limits guide even after email encoding adds about 37%. Your file is compressed in your browser and never uploaded.

What fits in 10 MB?

At 10 MB nearly every document fits. In our tests only the 12 MB phone scan needed compressing, and it fit with images kept at full resolution. The table shows our test files compressed to exactly 10 MB: 4 of 4 fit.

Run on 2026-10-17 by the site build with the tool's engine (build JPEG encoder; browser sizes differ a little).

How to get a PDF under 10 MB

  • Change the target to your provider's limit if you know it.
  • Sending several PDFs? The limit applies to all attachments together.
  • If a file is still too large, share it through a cloud drive link instead.
  • Compressed copies keep links and form fields working.

Why can't my PDF reach the size?

Compression shrinks images; it cannot shrink text, fonts and drawings much, and pictures can only lose so much detail before they become unreadable. A long scan in color may simply hold too much at 10 MB. Try black and white images, remove pages you do not need, or split the document into parts.

Other sizes

100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, or any size with Compress PDF.
