How do I convert a PDF to JPG?

Choose your PDF, or drop it on the box above. Every page shows as a thumbnail, all selected. Click pages to leave them out, or type a range in the Pages box. Pick a resolution and quality, then press Save as JPG. One page downloads as a JPG; several pages download as a ZIP of JPGs.

  1. Press Choose a PDF and pick your file.
  2. Click thumbnails to choose pages, or type pages such as 1-3, 8 in the Pages box.
  3. Choose the Resolution: 150 DPI suits most uses, 300 DPI suits printing.
  4. Adjust Quality if you want smaller files (85% is a good balance).
  5. Press Save as JPG, then Download.

Which resolution (DPI) should I choose?

DPI means how many pixels go into each inch of the page. 72 DPI gives small images for previews and email. 150 DPI keeps body text readable on any screen and suits slides and documents. 300 DPI matches print quality but makes images four times larger than 150 DPI. Pick the lowest setting that looks right for your use.

Measured on 2026-10-12 with this tool in Chrome 152 on a laptop with an Intel Core i5-8350U. A4 pages, JPG at 85% quality.

300 DPI2480 x 3507 px1.1 MB1.4 MB

Photo pages make bigger JPGs than text pages, because a photo has detail everywhere. Lowering quality to 70% shrinks files a lot with little visible change on photos; keep it at 85% or above when pages have small text.

Can I convert only some pages of a PDF to JPG?

Yes. All pages start selected. Click a thumbnail to leave that page out, use Select none and then click the pages you want, or type a range such as 2-4, 9 in the Pages box. Only the selected pages are saved, and their file names keep the original page numbers.

How do I convert PDF to JPG on iPhone, Mac or Windows?

This page works in Safari on iPhone, and in any browser on Mac or Windows, with nothing to install. On a Mac, Preview can also export one page at a time as a JPEG. Windows has no built-in PDF to JPG tool, so a browser tool like this one is the free option there.

Apple describes exporting from Preview in Export PDFs and images in Preview on Mac.

JPG or PNG: which should I save PDF pages as?

JPG makes smaller files and suits pages with photos. PNG keeps the edges of text, charts and line drawings perfectly sharp and can have a transparent background; for text pages it is about the same size as JPG, but photo pages grow many times larger. For a diagram in a slide, use PDF to PNG.

Limits and fixes

  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
  • Very large pages (posters, CAD drawings) are scaled to stay under about 16 million pixels per image, the limit iPhones allow. The result shows when this happens.
  • Fonts the PDF does not include are replaced with similar fonts, so rare typefaces can look slightly different.
  • Long PDFs on phones: pages are saved one at a time, but hundreds of pages at 300 DPI take a while. Choose fewer pages or 150 DPI.
  • To get the original photos out of a PDF rather than pictures of whole pages, an image extraction tool is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting PDF to JPG reduce quality?

Each page is drawn fresh at the DPI you choose, so text is as sharp as that resolution allows. JPG compression adds a little softness; use 85% quality or more for small text.

How do I get all pages as separate images?

Leave all pages selected and press Save as JPG. You get a ZIP with one JPG per page, named with the page number.

Can I save PDF pages as WebP or PNG?

Yes. Change Image format to PNG or WebP. WebP files are smaller than JPG at the same quality and open in all modern browsers.

Will filled-in form fields show in the images?

Yes. Form field values are drawn into the page images.

Is there a page limit?

No fixed limit. Pages are processed one at a time, so long PDFs work, they just take longer.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Pages are drawn and saved by your browser, on your device. You can turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads and it still works.
