How do I convert a PDF to PowerPoint?

Press Choose a PDF and pick Editable text if you want to change the words, or Picture only for an exact copy of each page. Choose the slide shape, press Convert to PowerPoint, then Download the .pptx file. Open it in PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote.

  1. Press Choose a PDF.
  2. Pick Editable text or Picture only.
  3. Pick the Slide shape: same as the page, or 16:9 widescreen.
  4. Press Convert to PowerPoint, then Download.

How does the editable text work?

The tool reads each line of text with its font, size and color. Lines that belong together, such as a paragraph or one bullet point, share a text box at their place on the page, with the same line breaks. Underneath, the slide shows a picture of the page with the text painted out, so drawings, logos and backgrounds stay.

How long does it take?

About a second per page on a computer. This table shows our test PDFs converted with the tool in editable mode. Picture-only conversion is a little faster, and pages with many pictures make larger files. Time depends on your device, because the conversion runs in your browser rather than on a server.

Limits and fixes

  • Charts and drawings stay as part of the page picture; they are not editable shapes.
  • Text on photos or patterns is painted out with a flat color, which can leave a visible patch; use Picture only for such pages.
  • Fonts keep the PDF's names; PowerPoint shows a similar font if one is not installed, so lines may wrap a little differently.
  • Scanned pages have no text to edit; run OCR PDF first, then convert.
  • Locked PDFs need their password removed first with Unlock PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up, watermark or page limit.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The slides are made in your browser.

Does it work with Google Slides?

Yes. Upload the .pptx to Google Drive and open it with Google Slides.

Can I turn the slides back into a PDF?

Yes, with our PowerPoint to PDF tool.

Why is the text in separate boxes?

Each paragraph gets its own box at its place on the page, so the slide keeps the PDF layout.
