Compress PDF to 2 MB

Two megabytes leaves room for longer scans and photo-heavy documents while staying well under the 20 to 25 MB email limits. This page is set to 2 MB. Your file is compressed in your browser and never uploaded.

What fits in 2 MB?

At 2 MB scans keep print quality with room to spare: in our tests a three-page phone scan needed only 760 KB at 150 dpi, so longer documents fit too. The table shows our test files compressed to exactly 2 MB: 4 of 4 fit.

Run on 2026-10-17 by the site build with the tool's engine (build JPEG encoder; browser sizes differ a little).

How to get a PDF under 2 MB

  • Most files fit at a light setting, so images barely change.
  • Several files at once? Add them all; each is fitted to 2 MB on its own.
  • For scans in color, gray images halve the size again if needed.
  • Check the result before sending: the table shows each file's new size.

Why can't my PDF reach the size?

Compression shrinks images; it cannot shrink text, fonts and drawings much, and pictures can only lose so much detail before they become unreadable. A long scan in color may simply hold too much at 2 MB. Try black and white images, remove pages you do not need, or split the document into parts.

Other sizes

Yes. Each file is fitted to 2 MB on its own and you get one ZIP.

Will links and form fields still work?

Yes. Only images are re-encoded.
