How do I make an attendance sheet?

Choose the month, type your class name and paste your student names, one per line. The sheet adds a column for each school day and leaves out weekends; days you mark as no class are shaded and not counted. Mark attendance by clicking the boxes, or download the PDF blank and mark it by hand on paper each day.

1. Pick the month and type the class and teacher.
2. Paste or type the student names.
3. Leave out holidays by day number.
4. Click boxes to mark P, A, T or E, or leave them blank.
5. Download the PDF.

What do the attendance codes mean?

P is present, A is absent, T is tardy (late) and E is an excused absence. The P, A and T columns count each code for the month, and the percent column shows present plus tardy days out of the days marked. Excused absences count as missed days in that rate, so check how your school counts them before reporting.

How many absences is chronic absenteeism?

The U.S. Department of Education says chronic absenteeism is typically defined as missing at least 10 percent of school days, excused or not. In a month with 22 school days, that is 3 absences or more. A rate of 90 or below is a sign to look closer, though states and districts set their own rules.
