How do I convert a PDF to SVG?
Press Choose a PDF, type the pages you want or leave the box empty for all of them, and press Convert to SVG. One page downloads as an .svg file; several pages download as a ZIP with one SVG each. Open them in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or any web browser.
- Press Choose a PDF.
- Type the Pages you want, such as 1-3, 5, or leave it empty for all.
- Press Convert to SVG, then Download.
What ends up in the SVG?
Every filled or outlined shape the page draws becomes an SVG path in painting order, each line of text becomes a text element with its font, size and color, and each picture is embedded as PNG. This table shows what the tool wrote for our test pages.
| Test page | Shapes | Text pieces | Pictures | SVG size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Report page: headings, table, picture | 11 | 31 | 1 | 13 KB |
| Contract page: text and a logo box | 1 | 7 | 0 | 2.1 KB |
| Statement page: an 82-run table | 0 | 82 | 0 | 16 KB |

Why does the text look slightly different?
SVG text uses fonts installed on the computer that opens it, while a PDF carries its own fonts. The tool names the PDF's font first with a common fallback, and stretches each line to the exact width it had in the PDF, so lines stay in place even when a similar font is shown.
Limits and fixes
- Gradients and patterns are not drawn yet; shapes that use them are left out.
- Clipping is not applied, so a picture cropped by a shape in the PDF shows in full.
- Turned text (vertical labels) is left out.
- Fonts are not embedded; a similar installed font is used.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes, with no sign-up or page limit.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The SVG files are written in your browser.
Can I edit the SVG?
Yes, in Inkscape, Illustrator, Figma or any text editor; text is real text.
Can I turn an SVG back into a PDF?
Yes, with our SVG to PDF tool.
Should I use PNG instead?
For photos and scans, PDF to PNG is simpler. SVG suits drawings, diagrams, logos and text.
