How do I make name tags for an event?

Copy the attendee names from your sign-up sheet or spreadsheet and paste them here, one person per line, with a title or company after a comma if you want them. Pick a tag size and design, add a few blank tags for walk-ins, and download the PDF. Print on plain card stock with cut lines, or on sticker label sheets.

  1. Paste the names, one per line.
  2. Add a greeting, event name or logo.
  3. Pick the tag size, or enter your label sheet in Custom.
  4. Print a test page if you use label sheets.
  5. Download the PDF and print at actual size.

How do I line up name tags with a label sheet?

Untick the cut lines, download the test page, and print it on plain paper at actual size, not fit to page. Hold it over a label sheet against a window. If the boxes sit off the labels, enter a small move right or down in inches and print the test again, then print the tags on the label sheet.

What size is a name tag?

Check the package for the size. This maker has four ready sizes: 3-3/8 by 2-1/3 inches at 8 per sheet, 4 by 3 inches at 6 per sheet for clip-on badge holders, 3.5 by 2 inches at 10 per sheet, and 4 by 6 inches at 2 per sheet for lanyard badges. For any other sheet, choose Custom.

What should a name tag say?

The name comes first, large enough to read from a few steps away. A second line can carry a job title, team, pronouns or table number, and a third line a company or hometown. Wikipedia's entry on name tags notes the classic US design that reads Hello, my name is, which the Hello design here follows.

Limits

  • Label sheet margins differ. Presets are centered; use the test page and nudge, or enter your sheet in Custom.
