How do I convert Markdown to PDF?

Press Choose a Markdown file, or Type or paste Markdown to start from a blank page. The preview on the right updates as you type. Pick the paper size, margins, text size and font, then press Convert to PDF and Download. The file name follows your .md file, so notes.md becomes notes.pdf.

Which Markdown features does it support?

It follows CommonMark, the common Markdown standard, plus the table, strikethrough and task list syntax people know from GitHub. Headings, bold, italic, ordered and bulleted lists, nested lists, block quotes, inline code, fenced code blocks, horizontal rules, links and bare web addresses all come through. Raw HTML inside the Markdown is shown as text and never run.

Is the text in the PDF selectable and searchable?

Yes. Some browser converters take a picture of the page and put that in the PDF, which makes the text blurry and impossible to search. This tool writes real text with embedded fonts. In our test, a 1,298-word Markdown file became a 7-page PDF of 40 KB, and every word could be found with the reader's search.

Can I convert Markdown to PDF without installing anything?

Yes. Desktop routes such as Pandoc need a LaTeX engine or another program installed, and editor extensions often download a copy of Chromium. This page needs only a modern browser on a laptop or phone. It works offline once loaded, because the fonts and code come from this site and nothing is sent to a server.

How do I add a page break in Markdown?

Markdown has no page break of its own, so this tool reads a common convention. Put on a line by itself, with a blank line above and below, and the next content starts on a new page. \pagebreak and ewpage on their own line work too. In other Markdown viewers the comment stays invisible.
