How do I make a coupon?

Type the deal as a short headline, such as 20% OFF or Buy one, get one free, and say what it applies to. Add a code if your register needs one, an expiry date and short terms such as one per customer. Download the PDF, print it on card stock and cut along the dashed lines.

  1. Type the headline and what the offer is for.
  2. Add a code, an expiry date and terms.
  3. Add your logo and pick a color.
  4. Choose the size and how many coupons.
  5. Download, print and cut.

What should a coupon include?

The offer and what it applies to, your business name, how to use it (a code, or just hand it in), when it expires, and any limits such as one per customer or no cash value. Wikipedia describes a coupon as a ticket or document redeemed for a discount or rebate, so make the discount the biggest words on it.

Why give each coupon its own number?

A numbered code on each coupon, such as FALL-001, FALL-002 and so on, lets you see how many came back and which batch they came from, and makes copied coupons easier to spot. Set the prefix and first number, and the PDF counts up in order across the sheets. A new batch can carry on from the next number.

Limits

  • Printed coupons only. It does not check codes at the register or online.
  • One design per batch.
  • QR codes open web pages only; type the full link starting with https://.
