How do I split a PDF page in half?

Press Choose a PDF. The tool picks Left and right for wide pages and Top and bottom for tall ones; change it if needed. Untick Cut every page to type the pages to cut, so a cover stays whole. Press Split pages in half, check the two preview pages and download the new PDF.

How do I split a scanned book into single pages?

When a book is scanned open, each scan holds two pages side by side. Choose Left and right, and each scan becomes a left page followed by a right page, in reading order. If the cover was scanned alone, untick Cut every page and type the rest, such as 2-40. For Arabic, Hebrew or Japanese books, tick Right page first.

Scans also often need straightening and searchable text: run OCR PDF on the result. To trim dark scanner edges, use Crop PDF.

Does splitting a page lose quality?

No. The tool does not redraw or compress anything. It copies each page and sets its visible area to one half, which is how the PDF format defines a page's visible region. Text stays text and pictures keep every pixel. Each half still carries the whole page's data, so the file grows a little rather than shrinking.

Is this the same as Split PDF?

No. Split PDF divides a document into separate files by page ranges, such as pages 1 to 5 in one file and 6 to 10 in another. This tool cuts the pages themselves, turning one page into two halves inside the same file. To cut a single page into any shape instead of halves, use Crop PDF.
