How do I add a letterhead to a PDF?

Press Choose the document and pick the letter or report. Press Choose the overlay PDF and pick your letterhead, saved as a PDF. Choose Behind the page, then First page only or First page, then a continuation page. Press Apply overlay, check the preview and press Download. The original files are not changed.

Should the overlay go behind or in front of the page?

Behind, for letterheads, logos and background designs: the document's text is drawn on top, so nothing covers it. In front, for stamps, approval marks or a frame that must stay visible over everything. If a document has a solid white background, an overlay placed behind it is hidden; put it in front instead.

How do I make a letterhead PDF to use?

Design the letterhead in Word, Google Docs or a design program on a page the size of your letters, leave the middle blank, and save it as PDF. For a continuation sheet with a smaller logo, add a second page with that design. Both pages go in one PDF, and the tool uses page 1 first and page 2 after.

What happens if the two PDFs are different sizes?

With Scale the overlay to fit each page ticked, the overlay is shrunk or enlarged to fit inside each page without changing its shape, and centered. An A4 letterhead on a US Letter page, for example, is drawn at 94.1%. Untick it to place the overlay at its own size, centered; anything larger is cut off.

To change the document's own page size first, use Resize PDF.
